Isaac Newton’s first law of motion states that,
An object at rest; stays at rest, and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
Most of us wish to live a simple, uncomplicated life without interference. But in the coming days, that kind of lifestyle is a fantasy. You have to contribute something if you want to live in a free society. Sometimes, your contribution is something more than just voting. It may involve some serious effort, such as becoming an elected official.
Any campaign starts with the simple act of one individual. But,
if moral, honest, and genuine people stop running for public office, people who have none of these principles will get into office unchallenged.
My mother did not want to be a campaign manager, as it is a very time-consuming job and requires a lot of effort and resources. Nobody else would step up, and she felt it her duty to support such a righteous cause. It has been a very educational experience and has been an adventure. So, for the past six weeks, I have been integral in the campaign for our next sheriff. As there is opposition in all things, we have not been without frustrations and trials. People have stolen signs, and the media has tried to besmirch the name and reputation of the candidate.
However, we have met so many people from infinitely varied walks of life. We have found that people want to protect life, family, and the way we live, work, and worship. Even though our candidate may not take public office, the impact made on others has inspired hope, if nothing else. People must know that there are still good men left to stand up for us.
When we began, only a handful of people knew who our candidate was, but after weeks of sending out our message, people became informed that there was a constitutional candidate. It takes a lot of effort to get the name of an underdog out there, and it has taken door to door knocking and taking fliers to people, along with placing signs on all the street corners.
So, small actions become large movements. Few to many. We will not stop spreading our small but powerful message of truth. Satan will always have his people working for him. Now is not the time to give up, but to stand up and fight back. It is hard because we, as Christian people, do not want conflict. People will stand behind the truth, no matter how small, it’s true, and nothing can change that. Satan is acting against us daily, and we have to keep moving. No longer can we hide in the shadows hoping for others to step up. An inspiring quote from the movie Robin Hood states, “If not you, who? If not now, when?”
